2017 Citizen of the Year The Columbia Historical Society honored Dennis Ross as Citizen of the Year 2017 at the Columbia Homecoming Celebration. A life long resident of Columbia for two generations, Dennis is a graduate of Columbia Schools and a veteran. He graduated from Kent State University with a teaching degree and later a Master's from Bowling Green. He is a retired teacher but continues to farm putting up close to 10,000 bales of hay each year and provides employment for many local high school students during the summer hay season. He has served as a board member of Columbia Township's Zoning Board. He is a former school board member of the Columbia Local School District. He has been a member of the Columbia Chamber of Commerce. He is a long standing member of the Columbia Historical Society, and Friends of the Library, and he regularly attends the Township Trustee Meetings as well as the Lorain County Trustee Association meetings. He is one of the Founding Board Members and strong supporter of the Columbia Community Foundation. Congratulations Dennis Ross!
