Program includes: "Archaeology and Indian Trails of Northern Ohio, a brief outline on selected topics from the Ice Age to events in the 1700s" presented by Mary Melnyk, Columbia Historical Society's Director of History. Free and open to the public.
04/16/16 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM Bronson House Museum Bronson House Museum Clean-Up Days from 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM. We will be cleaning up the grounds outside (i.e. flower gardening, tree and bush trimming, gutter cleaning, etc.) along with doing cleaning inside the museum (i.e. dusting, sweeping, windows, organizing, etc.). We want to put our best foot forward for 2016 by getting the museum presentable before visitors start to show up for open houses, tours, etc. If you can lend a helping hand, it would be greatly appreciated. If you have cleaning supplies and tools to bring, then those would be helpful too. There is no need to pre-register so simply show up, check in with Karen Richards (President) when you get there, and she will direct you to where assistance is needed.

We will be cleaning up the grounds outside (i.e. flower gardening, tree and bush trimming, gutter cleaning, etc.) along with doing cleaning inside the museum (i.e. dusting, sweeping, windows, organizing, etc.). Program includes: "Old Glory: Samples of the many different U.S. flags help to explain its history" presented by Jim Smith, Lorain County Historical Society. Free and open to the public.
06/23/16-06/25/16 Various Columbia Township Park Columbia Homecoming Festival and Historical Society Booth. Require volunteers to work the booth during these days. More information will be coming. Free and open to the public.

09/10/16 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Lorain County Metro Park - Columbia Reservation Annual 1812 Columbia Block House Day event at the Lorain County Metro Park’s Columbia Reservation ("25145 Royalton Rd, Columbia Station, OH 44028"). Time and program: 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM with many historical programs, reenactors, activities, real cannon firing, tomahawk throwing, other local historical societies, and much more. Free and open to the public.
09/13/16 7:00 PM Columbia Township Town Hall Columbia Historical Society Membership Meeting at 7:00 PM (social time) and 7:30 PM (program) at Columbia Township Town Hall ("25496 Royalton Rd, Columbia Station, OH 44028"). Program includes: "What roads do you think the settlers used to come here?" presented by Louise Varisco, Retired Strongsville City School Teacher and member of the Strongsville Historical Society and Columbia Historical Society. Free and open to the public.
10/01/16 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM Bronson House Museum Bronson House Museum Clean-Up Day from 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM. After a long summer, the clean-up day will be held on 10/01/16 (Saturday) from 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM with a rain date on 10/15/16 (Saturday), if needed. We will be mainly cleaning up the grounds outside (i.e. flower gardening, tree and bush trimming, gutter cleaning, etc.) along with doing some cleaning inside the museum (i.e. dusting, sweeping, windows, organizing, etc.). We want to ensure that the museum grounds are ready for the upcoming fall and winter months. If you can lend a helping hand, it would be greatly appreciated. If you have gardening and trimming supplies or cleaning supplies and tools to bring, then those would be helpful too. There is no need to RSVP so simply show up, check in with Karen Richards (President) when you get there, and she will direct you to where assistance is needed.

If it is raining at 9:00 AM on 10/01/16, then the clean-up day will be automatically cancelled and moved to 10/15/16.

11/15/16 7:00 PM Columbia Township Town Hall Columbia Historical Society Membership Meeting at 7:00 PM (social time) and 7:30 PM (program) at Columbia Township Town Hall ("25496 Royalton Rd, Columbia Station, OH 44028"). Program includes: "Military Medals Identification and Meaning" by Paul Kaparoff. Society officer and director nominations for 2017 will be closed and presented to the membership. Please bring any military medals that you would like help in identifying. Free and open to the public.
12/13/16 6:30 PM Columbia Township Town Hall Columbia Historical Society Membership Meeting, Elections, and Potluck Dinner at 6:30 PM. Potluck dinner is followed by a short meeting and annual elections at Columbia Township Town Hall ("25496 Royalton Rd, Columbia Station, OH 44028"). 2017 Officer Nominees are: President – Blanche Nemeth; Vice President – Kenneth Roth; Treasurer – Mary Melnyk; Recording Secretary – Gloria Roth; and Correspondence Secretary – Patricia Ables. Free and open to the public.


Invite friends, relatives and neighbors to the open houses or meetings - all are welcome.

Bronson House Museum will be closed for open houses from November through April each year for the winter.
